Invitation to participate in Outdoor Victoria’s Careers in the Outdoors Stand at the three main 2023 Melbourne Career Events.
Following the success of the 2022 career events, where we were able to showcase careers in the outdoors to over 48,000 visitors, including over 37,000 school students, we will again have stands at the three major Victorian career events in 2023. The success last year was largely down to your support and I would like to invite you to take part again if you and/or your team members are able to make the time available.
Short summary of the three events:
- VCE and Career Expo – Caulfield Racecourse – Thursday 4 – Saturday 6 May 2023
The biggest and longest-running event. Running from Thursday to Saturday, the event attracted over 18,500 visitors in 2022, most of whom were school students booked for Thursday and Friday. I can provide more details on this and the showgrounds event if you would like.
- Victorian Careers Show – Melbourne Showgrounds – 18- 20 May 2023
Similar to the VCE event at Caulfield and run by the same people, this event also runs from Thursday to Saturday and attracts mainly school students on Thursday and Friday. It is a relatively new event, and attracts students from the west and north of Melbourne as well as a significant number of regional students, with over 12,000 students already booked for this year’s event.
- Melbourne Careers Expo – Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre – Friday 14 – Saturday 16 July 2023
The Melbourne Careers Expo in July differs from the previous two events. It runs over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, is aimed at a broader audience and attracts over 15,000 visitors. Further data on visitors can be found on the event website. Note that the Friday overlaps with the second day of the OV conference.
These events present a great opportunity to sell the idea of a career in the outdoors and provide information on training pathways and current opportunities. While we will ask you to represent and provide information on the whole industry, it is also an opportunity to talk directly about career experiences and opportunities with your organisation.
If you are able to help with a staff member(s) for a half day (approx 3 hrs) or the whole day (approx 5 hrs), please email Andrew Gooday, our careers coordinator, indicating who might be able to attend and available days/times.
