The Outdoor Education Group (OEG) and tertiary partners have created learning opportunities to support student’s education, growth and development in the outdoor industry within Australia, our tertiary partners are with Victoria University where we have developed a vocationally embedded Bachelor’s Degree model to modernise the relationship between industry and higher education. Box hill institute training we have developed a traineeship program where students gain valuable and practical industry experience while completing a cert 4 in outdoor leadership. These tertiary and industry partnerships support students \ students having an integrated and continued learning experience students learn in the outdoors sector and learn while they study. This program allows the learner employee to apply their theory to real situations, continually strengthening their industry skills, knowledge, and professional behaviour while they study and work.

Tash Hay

Outdoor education group (OEG)

Tash Hay is a client program manager at The Outdoor Education Group (OEG). She manages the tertiary partnership with Victoria University and Box hill institute supporting the development of industry-ready graduates. Tash is very passionate and motivated to inspire others to grow as individuals and transfer their knowledge and inspire others in the outdoors. She has been working in the outdoor industry for over 20 years in staff progression, training and development.

Andrew Watts

Box Hill Institute

Outdoor Professional for 22 years, with 10 years working for Private Outdoor Education, a 3-year stint running his own business. Passionate about teaching technical activity skills especially in Canoeing and Skiing, with 15 years of instructing experience in snow sports bookended with seasons in Austria, Canada and Japan. Currently Course Coordinator – Wellness (Sport, Fitness and Outdoor Leadership) at Box Hill Institute after setting up a new Outdoor Recreation program at the TAFE in 2018. A respected industry professional whose skills now specialise in Education Management. Andrew’s focus currently, is to have an influence on the training aspect of the sector and improve and enhance its productivity and outcomes.

Matthew Cox

Victoria University

Matthew Cox is a Lecturer at Victoria University. He is the Course Chair for the Bachelor of Outdoor Leadership and Bachelor of Outdoor Education and Environmental Science. Matthew is very passionate about developing and building the professional standing of the outdoor industry and is in the final stages of his PhD focussing on Professional Identity Development in the Outdoor Industry. Matthew has been working in the outdoor industry for 27 years in a variety of roles and capacities.
