We are very excited that the first major face-to-face engagement for the Nature Kindergarten Facilitation Demonstration Project is starting this week. Outdoors Victoria’s facilitator Rose Major and colleague Lisa Coxon from the Early Childhood Outdoor Learning Network (ECOLN) travel to Sale on February 26 and 27 to work with a number of organisations to boost the uptake of early childhood outdoor programs in the Shire.

Rose has worked closely with Wellington Shire Council to provide the opportunity for educators from 8 kinders in the LGA, as well as one from neighbouring East Gippsland Shire, to access ECOLN training and follow-on support. This will be provided partly under the School Readiness Funding program and partly under the auspices of the project.

Representatives from the Council will also undertake the training, to make sure that the Council can then provide support and strategic direction to further underpin the ability of kinders to implement Bush Kinder-type programs.

Also on board with the visit is the Kindergarten Improvement Advisor based in East Gippsland, with a view to extending the project in that LGA over the next year.

We thank Sport and Recreation Victoria & ECOLN for funding this project
