AI is now omnipresent, and its relationship with life and outdoor education is ever-changing. A recent project from outdoor educators across the globe (North & Hills et al., 2024) captured the range of perspectives on this relationship and unpacked key emerging themes. There was also a special interest group on AI and Outdoor Education at the recent International Outdoor Education Research Conference in 2024, in Japan.
In part one of this session, you will hear the latest thinking on AI and Outdoor Education from these groups above and be invited to share your opinion on the topic. In part two, we will highlight strategies to manage AI in Outdoor Education that outdoor educators have found effective and invite you to contribute your own examples and experience in this context.

About the Presenter
David Hills is a lecturer in Outdoor Education at the University of the Sunshine Coast Australia. His research areas in outdoor education include educational technology, curriculum development, and transnational education. Dave is also certified in all major disciples of outdoor education fieldwork and values bridging theory and practice.
