When we hear feedback, we already start thinking of different instances and stories around defending ourselves if certain topics came up. Feedback is nerve racking and has the capacity to shut people and make them defensive if done in the traditional way. I would argue the feedback sandwich technique which most of us are thought doesn’t do any good. Feedback is the most important part of building thriving teams and it can be effective in starting a dialogue for ongoing learning and help in developing trusting relationships. Feedback’s can be authentic, non threatening, inviting and an opportunity to respect and value each other’s perspectives without putting anyone down. I have created a feedback checklist which would help people respect boundaries and invite others into a purposeful conversation. I would love to share my understanding and the checklist to help people (no matter the position within an organisation) have important and crucial conversations that matter.
