Blackwood SS OEC has been providing outdoor learning opportunities for students with a range of disablity needs for over 50 years. This presentation showcases Blackwood’s growth as Outdoor Education facility and its curriculum. It will show how Blackwood creates outdoor experiences, differentiates and supports student learning, and creates and supports effective communication for all students. This presentation will also highlight some of the equipment and physical changes that are made to activities to include all students in lessons and learning.
About the Presenter
I have been teaching Outdoor Education for over 20 years, with experience in mainstream Secondary Schools, International Schools and most recently in Special Education. I have a backgorund in developing curriuclum, including MTB and Yr 9 & 10 Outdoor Education at a Secondary level. And have experience in presenting to other educators at conferences. I am currently working in the Special Education area, creating inclusive learning opportunities for a variety of student needs and ages (F – 12). I woud like to share the Blackwood story and how we cater and create learning opportunites for students with special needs.
