We often see connecting to nature as needing to go to nature when in fact nature is in us and all around us. This presentation is an interactive discussion around how we can enhance our connection to the natural world to improve community health and wellbeing by prescribing nature to the people we work with after their outdoor experience.
The interactive discussion will provide a space where teachers and camp providers can share their experiences of how they integrate teachings of mental health and wellbeing into their programs through nature connection activities. The facilitated workshop will also provide an opportunity to learn strategies and interventions on how to encourage young people to integrate these key learning and insights into their daily life after the outdoor experience. Outdoor educators will take-away strategies on how to create integration processes and programs for the young people they are working with and also learn self care tips to avoid burnout.
