Xianrong (Amy) Yu
Ms. Yu will discuss outdoor education policies and practices in China that aim to raise public awareness, particularly among youth, about climate change and promote low-carbon behaviors. She will present the Climate-Smart School Project, a collaboration with UNICEF, and the Nature School initiative, which combines climate education with biodiversity conservation in China’s national parks.
Additionally, Ms. Yu will share insights on how outdoor education can foster environmentally responsible behaviors and how to effectively communicate climate education stories on international platforms like the UN Climate Change Conference (COP).
About the Presenter
Yu Xianrong has a Master Degree on Environmental Sciences. She has 20 years environment-related working experience, including 10 years work as manager of international environmental cooperation projects, 7 years work as a co-founder of a grass-root NGO on community development and nature conservation. In the past three years, she is responsible for nature-based environmental education in the Center for Environmental Education and Communications (CEEC), Ministry of Ecology and Environment. She is a certified Leave No Trace Trainer , National Cleaner Production Auditor, and expert on nature education in China’s national parks.
