Discover our Forests
Discover our Forests is an exciting initiative to help more Victorians explore our State Forests and engage in outdoor activities, supported by the Victorian Government and delivered in partnership with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) and Outdoors Victoria.
Community Groups supporting the wellbeing of our diverse Victorian Communities are invited to Discover our Forests – a free and supported full day of adventure activities, such as hiking, mountain-biking, bush skills and orienteering (note: activities vary at locations).
Program in action: Gembrook & Cockatoo Seniors Clubs visited Yarra State Forest
The Gembrook and Cockatoo Seniors Clubs spent a day exploring the Yarra State Forest, supported by Halls Outdoor Education. The group of 32 explored the 2.25 km loop trail to Toorongo Falls and then the Noojee Trestle Bridge, in Yarra State Forest.
“My Gembrook Seniors Group have now decided to further our involvement with Halls Outdoor Education to look at other events and activities we can arrange and tailor that will generate wider community participation and involvement in the future.”

We are now seeking to involve Victorian Community Groups that support people from multicultural backgrounds, migrants & refugees, people with disabilities, people with mental health challenges, older adults (65 years old plus) and women’s groups.
Discover our Forests is facilitated by experienced delivery partners, from September 2026 – April 2027 (until fully booked).

Outdoors Victoria is seeking a Victorian Licensed Tour Operator to become our Discover our Forests Gippsland Delivery Partner in 2026–27.
Help our diverse Victorian communities experience supported outdoor adventures in Gippsland’s State Forests.
