Public land tour operator and activity provider licensing changes

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) is reviewing the licensing policy and fees for tour operators and activities providers on public land. The current policy is 16 years old and needs updating to ensure a simple, efficient and fair system that supports safe, sustainable, respectful, high-quality nature-based tourism and commercial education and recreation on public land.

The proposed policy, RIS, and draft fee regulations consultation opened on 12 December 2025 and closes on 16 January 2026.
