Natural environments are vital to healthy communities. Developing a deeper understanding of these places helps promote their natural and cultural significance and provides opportunities to form connections to places and communities. Facilitated programming or adventure activity programming that considers the importance of place assists in providing strategies for participants to understand their home and other environments more effectively. This session will run as an interactive workshop that will examine the significance of the connection to natural environments in developing OE programming. The workshop will explore current and future environmental issues, cultural perspectives, and inclusion and diversity in the context of outdoor adventure programming. The session will also examine why OE programming including components of the connection to natural environments may be important to future OE programs.
