This session provides an overview of the updated 2024-2028 VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies Study Design. Via a panel discussion, the session will provide an overview of the large scale changes, an introduction to the cross-study specifications, clarifications around outdoor experiences and an opportunity for you to ask questions of the panel.
About the Presenters
Josh is a lecturer in the School of Education at Federation University; his teaching interests include outdoor education and science curriculum studies. Josh’s research focuses on different models of teaching and learning in middle years education (Year 9 programs). Josh has worked in several P-12 school contexts across Government, Independent and Catholic sectors. Josh has been actively involved in OV for several years, including a time on staff. He was the previous vice-president of Environment Education Victoria and has a strong working relationship with ACHPER Victoria, including receiving an ACHPER Honour award in 2020.
Chris is the current Curriculum Manager for Health and Physical Education at the VCAA. He is passionate about VCE studies in the HPE area, an area that he spent most of his time in teaching prior to his role at the VCAA. This included undertaking a Master of Education in the role of movement to deliver the VCE PE study design. Chris led the team that oversaw the review of the VCE OES study and is excited to share the revised study.
Belinda has been teaching Outdoor & Environmental Studies for 13 years and is passionate about promoting teaching and learning in this area. She has been involved in writing many materials including textbooks, sample and practice exams, study guides and course outlines. Belinda is the VCAA Assistant Chief Assessor and has been a VCAA examination assessor for over 12 years and has also carried out consultancy work for the VCAA including as lead writer for the new current Study Design 2024.
